Why Wix site owners add Google reviews

Wix is popular with local service businesses — tradespeople, salons, restaurants, consultants. These are exactly the businesses where Google reviews drive buying decisions. A visitor landing on your Wix site has often already found you on Google Maps, where they saw your rating. Showing those same reviews on your page confirms they're in the right place and removes the need to leave your site to check.

WeWidget embeds directly on your Wix page using the Custom Embed element — no Wix App Market, no third-party plugin, no ongoing app subscription on top of your Wix plan. Just your reviews, styled to fit your site.

Before you start

Step-by-step: adding the widget to Wix

  1. 1

Create your WeWidget account and get your embed code

Sign up at wewidget.app/signup (free trial, no card needed), connect your Google Business Profile, and copy your embed code from Dashboard → Widget → Embed Code. Your embed code will have your unique widget ID in place of "YOUR-WIDGET-ID".

  2. 2

    Open the Wix Editor

Go to your Wix dashboard at manage.wix.com and click "Edit Site" for the site you want to update. This opens the Wix Editor.

  3. 3

    Add a Custom Embed element

In the left panel of the Wix Editor, click Add (+). Navigate to Embed → Custom Embeds → Embed a Widget. A grey embed placeholder will appear on your canvas.

💡Use "Custom Embeds → Embed a Widget" — not the Wix iFrame embed option. WeWidget uses a script tag that requires the Custom Embed, not an iFrame.
  4. 4

    Enter your embed code

Click the embed element on your canvas, then click "Enter Code". A code editor panel will open on the left. Paste your full WeWidget snippet into it and click Apply.

    <div data-review-widget="YOUR-WIDGET-ID"></div>
    <script src="https://app.wewidget.app/widget.js"
      data-widget-id="YOUR-WIDGET-ID"></script>
  5. 5

    Position and resize the element

Drag the embed element to where you want your reviews to appear on the page. Resize it by dragging the edges — the widget will fill the container width.

  6. 6

    Publish your site

Click Publish in the top right. Your Google reviews widget is now live on your Wix site.

💡The widget will not render inside the Wix Editor preview — this is normal. Click "View Site" after publishing to confirm it is working on the live page.

Where to place the widget on your Wix site

The best placement depends on what you want the reviews to do. Here are the most effective spots:

HomepageSeen by every visitor. Ideal if you want to establish credibility immediately. Place it below your hero section or above the contact form.
Contact pageConverts visitors who are on the fence. Someone about to fill in a contact form is reassured by seeing recent positive reviews right there.
Services pageReinforces credibility next to the specific service they're considering. Reviews feel most relevant in context.
Wix footer (sitewide)The most efficient placement if you want reviews visible on every page. Add the Custom Embed to your footer and it appears everywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Does the widget work on the Wix free plan?
The Wix free plan does not include access to the Custom Embed element, which is required to add custom code. You need at least a Wix paid plan (any tier) to use WeWidget on your Wix site.
Why is the widget not showing in the Wix Editor preview?
This is expected behaviour. External scripts loaded via the Wix Custom Embed only execute on the published site, not inside the Wix Editor. Click Publish and then View Site to confirm your widget is working correctly.
Can I add the widget to the Wix footer so it shows on every page?
Yes. Instead of adding the Custom Embed to a single page, add it to the footer section of your site. In the Wix Editor, click on the footer to edit it, then follow the same steps to add a Custom Embed there. It will appear on every page of your site.
Does it work in Wix Studio?
Yes. Wix Studio also supports the Custom Embed element. The steps are the same — Add (+) → Embed → Custom Embeds → Embed a Widget.
Can I add the widget to a Wix blog post?
Yes. While editing a blog post in the Wix blog editor, look for the option to add an element or embed code block. Paste your WeWidget snippet there. It will appear within that specific post.
Will it slow down my Wix site?
No. The WeWidget script loads asynchronously. It does not block your page from rendering and has a negligible impact on Wix site performance.
